If your Class 12 results haven't arrived yet, you should only fill out this form if you're confident that your results will be out by the cut-off date and that you'll pass. Furthermore, when you select your post preferences later, carefully check whether the DEO (Data Entry Operator) post you're considering requires Science and Mathematics in your 12th grade.

Selection Process & Examination Scheme

The selection process primarily consists of Tier-I and Tier-II stages. The Tier-I exam first involves passing an online exam, which serves to shortlist candidates for the main exam. This is followed by the Tier-II exam, which includes a main computer-based paper, as well as qualifying stages such as computer knowledge and typing or skill tests, depending on the position. Finally, candidates who successfully complete these stages must undergo document verification to verify their original documents and eligibility, after which they are finally selected.

Tier-I Exam Pattern
Subject Questions Marks Time
English Language 25 50 15 min
General Intelligence 25 50 15 min
Quantitative Aptitude 25 50 15 min
General Awareness 25 50 15 min
Total 100 200 60 min
Tier-I note: To put the exam rules simply, you've now allocated 15 minutes for each of your four subjects, meaning each subject's paper will open in its designated 15-minute block. Negative marking also applies, meaning that if you answer a question incorrectly, 0.50 marks will be deducted from your total score.
Tier-II Exam Pattern
Module Questions Marks Time
Mathematical Abilities 30 90 30 min
Reasoning & General Intelligence 30 90 30 min
English Language & Comprehension 40 120 40 min
General Awareness 20 60 20 min
Computer Knowledge Test 15 45 15 min
There are two main aspects of the SSC CGL Tier 2 exam: First, there is negative marking of 1 mark for every wrong answer in the objective part (Sections I, II, and III), meaning that if you get any answer wrong, one mark will be deducted from the correct marks. Second, after this objective test, there is Session-II, in which candidates have to appear for a Skill Test or Typing Test. This typing test is only qualifying, which means you only need to pass it; its marks are not added to the final merit list.
Skill Test / Typing Test
Post / Test Standard
LDC / JSA – English Typing 35 words per minute; 10-minute test
LDC / JSA – Hindi Typing 30 words per minute; 10-minute test; Mangal font
DEO – standard data-entry posts 8,000 key depressions per hour; 15-minute Skill Test
Specified higher-speed DEO posts 15,000 key depressions per hour; 15-minute Skill Test
The typing test is only qualifying, meaning its marks won't count towards your final merit list; you simply need to pass it. However, the typing standards (such as speed and language) will depend on the position you're selected for. Therefore, the position you indicated as your first preference when filling out the application and the typing test requirements for that position should always be considered together.
Documents to Keep Ready

While filling the form on the SSC portal, you should always keep all your necessary documents ready in support of the information you fill like proof of date of birth (10th certificate), 12th mark sheet, caste or reservation certificate, documents related to PwBD or Ex-Servicemen and your photo and identity card so that there is no mistake in the form and correct information can be given if required.

Candidate Final Check: Before final submission, carefully review your application preview to verify your date of birth, Class 12th status, reservation claims, fee status, your photo and signature, and your choice of typing medium (Hindi/English). Also, do not select any position or category based on any unofficial (unwritten or social media) vacancy breakdown.
SSC CHSL Recruitment 2026 – FAQs
Can I apply if my Class 12 result is still awaited?

Yes, but the required qualification must be obtained by the cut-off date stated for this examination. A result declared after that date will not satisfy the qualification condition for this cycle.

Does every DEO post require Science with Mathematics in Class 12?

No. That condition applies only to the specified DEO or DEO Grade ‘A’ posts named in the notice. Other covered posts use the general Class 12-level qualification rule.

Has SSC released the category-wise vacancy distribution?

Not yet in the current notice. The combined vacancy figure is tentative, and the detailed post-wise/category-wise distribution is expected separately.

What is different about Tier-I timing in this cycle?

Each subject has a separate 15-minute time block. Candidates move through English, General Intelligence, Quantitative Aptitude and General Awareness under those sectional limits.

Which typing or skill standard should I prepare for?

It depends on the post. LDC/JSA uses the prescribed English or Hindi typing speed, while DEO posts use a key-depression standard. The table above shows the relevant benchmarks.

Source & Verification: As per the official notification (Advertisement No. F. No. HQ-C1102/5/2026-C-1), the Commission has announced around 2,536 tentative vacancies for various Group 'C' posts, with the online application process scheduled from September 7 to October 7, 2026, while the category-wise roster and exact exam date information is yet to be officially released and will be notified later by the Commission.
