Age relaxation is not the same for all candidates, but varies depending on your category (e.g. SC, ST, OBC) or your service condition (e.g. ex-servicemen or government employee), so you should check the rules for your category. Also, candidates who are not natives of Madhya Pradesh (MP) will not be eligible for any reservation or age relaxation available to reserved categories of MP; all applicants from outside states will have to compete under the General Category.
Category-Wise Vacancy Distribution
Reading The Vacancy Tables: According to the rule book, the 13% share of the total 7,500 vacancies has been shown separately because the rules consider it a provisional part and not a separate caste or category. On the other hand, the horizontal reservation for ex-servicemen, home guards and women is already included in the total number of posts, hence do not re-calculate the number of posts by adding them separately. Apart from this, under the order of the State Home Department, the police department has been exempted from the recruitment of Persons with Disabilities (PwBD), which means that posts have not been kept for them in this recruitment.

Selection Process
To put this recruitment process simply, the Madhya Pradesh Staff Selection Board (MPESB) police recruitment process consists of two major stages. First, candidates must take a computer-based written exam. Those who pass this exam (shortlisted) are selected for the next round, which is handled by the police department. This second round involves a Physical Efficiency Test (PET) consisting of physical measurements and running. It's important to note that the physical exam scores are also included in the final merit list (final selection). This is followed by a document verification, medical test, and police verification (character certificate). However, the rules for candidates under the 15% Home Guard quota are different and simpler; they don't have to take a written exam, but are selected based directly on their Physical Efficiency Test (PET) scores and their service experience (years of service).
How to Apply Online
1 Start with the main MPESB rulebook and Revised Page No.1. Match your age, education, category and cadre choice before opening the form.
2 Go to the official MP Online examination portal and complete the profile/eKYC requirement used for MPESB applications.
3 Enter your personal, education, domicile and reservation details exactly as they appear on the supporting records, then choose the applicable SAF or Non-SAF option.
4 Upload the required photograph, signature and certificates in the format accepted by the application portal.
5 Pay the applicable Board, Police Department and portal charges, submit the application by 6 October 2026, and save a copy of the submitted form.
6 If a permitted entry needs correction, complete it within the correction window ending 11 October 2026 and keep the final corrected copy.
Documents to Keep Ready
Before filling out the form, keep all your necessary documents together, such as proof of education, Aadhaar card, photo, signature, residence certificate (domicile), caste or EWS certificate, employment registration records, and papers related to Home Guard or Ex-Servicemen claim. Keep in mind that whatever records or information you fill in while applying, the same should be there later during document verification so that both details can match and there is no error in your application.
FAQs
What is the separate 13% block in the vacancy table?
It is not an extra caste category. The recruitment table keeps that part as a separate notional/provisional component, so it is shown separately to avoid mixing it with the regular category totals.
How is the Home Guard quota handled in selection?
Eligible candidates claiming the 15% Home Guard quota follow the special route stated in the rulebook. Their assessment uses PET marks and the prescribed service-length weightage instead of the regular written-test route.
Can candidates from outside Madhya Pradesh use MP reservation benefits?
No. Candidates from other states may apply in the open/unreserved stream, but Madhya Pradesh domicile-based reservation and the related state relaxations are not available to them.
Can women apply for Special Armed Force (SAF) Constable GD posts?
The 700 SAF vacancies are for male candidates. Women are considered in the 6,800 vacancies outside SAF, subject to the applicable rules and horizontal reservation.
What educational qualification is required for MP Police Constable GD 2026?
For UR, EWS, SC and OBC candidates, the recruitment uses the recognised Class 10/High School or accepted equivalent route. For Scheduled Tribe candidates, the rulebook provides the recognised Class 8 or equivalent route.
Is there negative marking in the MP Police Constable GD written exam?
The current rulebook-based exam details show a 100-question, 100-mark computer-based paper of 2 hours. One mark is awarded for a correct response and no negative-marking deduction is shown.
Does the PET affect the final merit?
Yes. The Physical Efficiency Test carries marks and is not treated only as a pass/fail formality. For regular candidates, the applicable PET marks are used along with the normalised written score in the final merit process.
What should a candidate check before paying the application fee?
Check the latest MPESB rulebook and Revised Page No.1, then match your category, domicile, age, qualification, SAF or Non-SAF preference and physical eligibility with your own documents before final submission.
Candidate Final Check
Before making the final submission and payment, please check all the details entered in your form such as post name, reference number (PUMU/2/Selection/S-3/583/2026), cadre choice, domicile/category certificate, age, educational qualification and physical standard (height/chest) with your original documents to avoid any mistakes. Also, go to the MPESB website and carefully read the new and revised rulebook once again so that your form is submitted correctly as per the latest rules of the board.
