SBI Junior Associate Eligibility – Who Can Apply?
Graduation, qualifying date, one-State rule and local-language requirement
- ✓Nationality: Only Indian citizens who meet SBI’s conditions were eligible to register.
- ✓Degree requirement: Applicants need a graduation degree in any stream from a recognised university, or a qualification accepted as equivalent by the Central Government.
- ✓Students awaiting graduation: Final-year or final-semester students were allowed to register provisionally. If provisionally selected, they must show that graduation was completed by 31 December 2026.
- ✓Integrated dual degree: For an IDD holder, the recorded passing date must fall on or before 31 December 2026.
- ✓Choice of State/UT: SBI allowed one State or Union Territory per application, and each applicant could take the test only once under this recruitment.

💵 SBI Junior Associate Salary, Pay Scale & Starting Emoluments
The basic pay for the Clerk position starts at ₹24,050 and increases incrementally to ₹64,480. Since graduation is the required qualification for this position, graduate candidates receive two advance increments (two additional increases). This means your starting basic salary starts directly at ₹26,730 instead of ₹24,050. Your final salary depends on your posting location (small or big city). If you are posted in a metropolitan city like Mumbai, various allowances (like DA, HRA, etc.) are added to the basic salary. This makes the total starting salary approximately ₹46,000 per month. After deduction of Provident Fund (PF) and pension etc. from the total salary, the amount that comes into your bank account varies from city to city.
📍 SBI Junior Associate Posting, Transfer Rule & Probation
- ✓Posting basis: Merit and appointment are tied to the State/UT selected in the application, along with its language condition.
- ✓Transfer: A new Junior Associate normally cannot seek an inter-circle or inter-state transfer during the first five years. After that period, SBI may consider only the exceptional cases covered by its policy.
- ✓Probation: The initial probation lasts at least six months. Confirmation also depends on completing SBI’s assigned e-learning work and meeting the Bank’s performance standard.

Preliminary Exam: This is just a qualifying test. Its only job is to decide who moves to the next round, and these marks are not added to the final merit list. Main Examination (Mains): Getting the job relies completely on your Mains score. If you apply from a state where you don't speak the local language, you will face a language test that you must pass.

Negative Marking:There is negative marking in the SBI exam. If you answer a question incorrectly, 0.25 (or 1/4) of your correct marks will be deducted. This means that if you get four questions wrong, you will lose one mark.

The Main Examination will consist of a total of 190 questions, carrying 200 marks. You will have 2 hours and 40 minutes to complete the entire paper. Each section will have its own timer (clock). When the time is up, that section will automatically close. Therefore, you must be mindful of your time.

🗣️ SBI Junior Associate Local Language Proficiency Test (LLPT)
When filling out the application form, candidates must select the language spoken in their chosen state or union territory. Once selected, they must provide proof of their proficiency in that language. There are two ways to do this: 1. If you studied that language as a subject in your 10th or 12th grade, you must show your marksheet. Doing so will prevent you from taking a language test. 2. If you didn't study that language in school, you must pass a local language test before joining the job. If you fail to provide proof of your schooling (marksheet) and also fail the local language test, you will not receive the job and your selection will be canceled.
