State Bank of India • Customer Support & Sales • Advertisement CRPD/CR/2026-27/17
📌 Status checked on 4 September 2026: The last date for new applications (registrations) for this SBI recruitment drive (Advertisement CRPD/CR/2026-27/17) was 31 August 2026, which has already passed, so new forms cannot be filled now. The Preliminary Exam is scheduled to be held in September 2026, followed by the Main Exam in November 2026.
Vacancy count: There are a total of 7,680 regular seats in this SBI recruitment. Some seats left over from previous years have also been added. These backlog seats cannot be directly added to the total seats; adding horizontal backlog seats to the total without verification would result in a double count (overlap). Therefore, it is important to keep the two figures separate. Vertical Reservation: This is for major castes/categories like SC, ST, OBC, and EWS. Their seats are counted separately. Horizontal Reservation: This is for women, Persons with Disabilities (PwD), or ex-servicemen. These seats are not separate, but are carved out within the main categories (such as General or OBC).

Backlog note: This recruitment for 287 posts is only to fill the backlog of old vacancies of SC, ST and OBC categories, in which there are no seats for General category. And all these 287 posts are made up of old vacant posts of three castes: ST (Scheduled Tribe):- 161 seats, OBC (Other Backward Class):- 68 seats, SC (Scheduled Caste):- 58 seats. No separate seats have been added for PwBD (Divyangjan) and XS/DXS (Ex-Servicemen). Whatever seats they get will be given from within these 287 seats only.
✓Education: You need a graduation degree in any stream, or a qualification that is accepted as equivalent. The qualifying result has to be available by 31 December 2026.
✓Final-year students: You could register provisionally, but selection would still depend on producing proof that graduation was completed by the notified cut-off date.
✓State choice: This recruitment is tied to the State/UT selected in the form. One candidate could apply for only one recruitment unit in this cycle.
✓Local language: The language shown for the chosen State/UT matters. Class 10 or 12 proof of studying that language can remove the need for a separate language test; otherwise the test has to be cleared before joining.
✓Eligible matriculate ex-servicemen: The advertisement also provides a route for candidates holding the prescribed Armed Forces education certificate after the required service period.

📝 SBI Clerk Selection Process 2026
There are total 3 steps in the recruitment process. Step 1: Preliminary Test (Prelims): This is just a screening test. It means that after passing this you reach the next round, but its marks are not included in your final merit list. Step 2: Main Test (Mains): This is the most important exam. Whether you will get the job or not, it completely depends on your marks obtained in this exam. The merit list is prepared on this basis. Step 3: Local-Language Check: At some places there is a test of the local language (dialect). If you know the local language and meet the other criteria (like age and education), then only your selection is considered confirmed.

Wrong-answer penalty:If you answer a question incorrectly, 25% (one-fourth) of the total marks for that question will be deducted from your correct marks. Suppose a question is worth 4 marks. If you get it wrong, one-fourth of 4, i.e. 1 mark, will be deducted. If the question is worth 1 mark, 0.25 marks will be deducted for the wrong answer. Therefore, if you absolutely do not know the answer to a question, it is better to leave it blank rather than guessing, as leaving it blank will not result in any marks being deducted.
🗣️ Local Language & Separate Special Drive
Provided you have studied your chosen local language in the 10th or 12th standard, you are exempt from taking a separate language test. Conversely, if you have not studied that language during your schooling, you must clear a language test prior to commencing employment. Should you fail this language test, you will not be offered the position.
