📌 Current Status: Recruitment for the July 2026 (Schedule-II) recruitment has opened on the India Post GDS portal. To apply, you'll need to register first on India Post's official website and then fill out the form. Relaxation: The rule for relaxation in the upper age limit in government jobs or examinations is that SC/ST candidates get 5 years, OBC gets 3 years and Divyang i.e. PwBD candidates get 10 years relaxation, whereas in case of OBC along with PwBD, 13 years additional relaxation is given and in case of SC/ST along with PwBD, 15 years additional relaxation is given, but candidates belonging to Economically Weaker Section i.e. EWS category are not given any kind of relaxation in the age limit.

How to Apply for India Post GDS Schedule-II 2026

    Open the official GDS Online Engagement portal and complete One-Time Registration with your own active mobile number and email address.
  • 2
    Enter personal details and Class 10 information exactly as they appear in your school record, then keep the registration number safely.
  • 3
    During the application window, sign in and choose the Division for which you meet the language, age, community and PwBD conditions.
  • 4
    Review the eligible Post IDs shown by the portal and arrange your preferences carefully; only posts for which a preference is recorded can be considered.
  • 5
    Upload the recent photograph and signature in the prescribed JPG/JPEG format, preview the form and correct any visible mistake before final submission.
  • 6
    Complete the ₹100 online payment if you are not in an exempt category, then submit the application within the notified closing time.
  • 7
    Use the correction window only for permitted changes, and keep a saved copy of the final application for later shortlisting and verification stages.
Photo & Signature: While filling India Post GDS (Gramin Dak Sevak) or any such online form, you have to upload your photograph and signature as per the prescribed measurement and size, in which the photograph must be in JPG/JPEG format of 30 to 100 KB (size 320×400 pixels) and signature of 20 to 100 KB (size 300×120 pixels), whereas your other original certificates or mark sheets are not to be uploaded in the initial stage of filling the form, rather they are asked for by the department later if required.

India Post GDS Recruitment 2026 – Eligibility

    Class 10: Applicants need a recognised Class 10 pass record showing passing marks in Mathematics and English.
  • ✓
    Local Language: The language mapped to the chosen post must have been studied through Class 10; the Circle/State/UT mapping is given in Annexure-III.
  • ✓
    Special Language Cases: Arunachal Pradesh, Goa, Sikkim and Nagaland carry additional language or dialect conditions, so candidates from these areas should check the state-specific proof requirement before selecting a post.

    Other Requirements: Computer use, cycling and adequate means of livelihood form part of the stated GDS eligibility conditions.

    Qualification Cut-off: The required educational qualification must be held as on 20 August 2026, the notification date.

India Post GDS 2026 – Selection Process

Separate Test / Interview The notified process does not add a written recruitment test or interview; shortlisting starts from Class 10 merit.
Merit Calculation The system uses Class 10 marks and applies the notified grade/point conversion rules where marks are not directly available, with the resulting percentage carried to four decimal places.
Grade / CGPA Cases A 9.5 conversion factor applies in the specified grade/CGPA situations; where both subject grades and CGPA are available, the system follows the notified higher converted outcome.
Tie Handling Older date of birth receives first priority, after which the category-and-gender sequence in the notification is used.
Document Check A shortlist is not the final engagement. Original records must clear physical verification with the Engaging Authority.
Supplementary Lists The engagement cycle is scheduled to close after 31 December 2026 unless the Department changes or extends the timeline.

GDS TRCA, Work Conditions & Residence Rules

TRCA Progression The allowance carries a 3% annual increase when the applicable GDS Rule conditions are met; Dearness Allowance is separate.
Service Position GDS engagement is governed by the GDS Rules and is not treated as regular Central Government employment.
Daily Work The stated duty span is four to five hours a day under the applicable GDS framework.
BPM Residence / Office A selected BPM must arrange suitable Branch Post Office accommodation at personal cost and live in the post village.
ABPM / Dak Sevak Residence Residence is required within the delivery jurisdiction of the Post Office to which the candidate is attached.

Documents Needed After Shortlisting

All shortlisted candidates must bring their original documents and two self-attested photocopies for verification. This verification set should include your 10th grade marksheet, any government ID, and date of birth proof. Additionally, bring your reservation (SC/ST/OBC), PwBD, Economically Weaker Section (EWS), or transgender certificate, if applicable, along with the required government medical certificate. If you are from Arunachal Pradesh, Goa, Sikkim, or Nagaland, you must also submit your local language or dialect certificate.
