- Professional certificate: The applicant should hold a Government of India Certificate of Competency as Master of a Home Trade Ship, or an accepted equivalent.
- Experience: At least five years of service as Master of a Home Trade Ship is required.
- Age condition: The notice places preference on candidates below 55 years. An older candidate can still be considered where the stated medical-fitness requirement is met.
- Pay: The contract carries consolidated remuneration of ₹2,50,000 per month; the notice does not promise an extra fee or allowance over this amount.
- Medical support: Medical facilities with insurance are included among the stated facilities.
- Leave: The notice provides 2½ days of leave per month, subject to the overall ceiling written in the notice, and unused leave must be dealt with within the contract period.
- Duty pattern: Work can be scheduled during the day or at night according to port operations, and posting may be at any port in the Andaman and Nicobar Islands.

For verification, report to the Assistant Director (Administration) office from 1 September 2026 onwards between 3:00 PM and 4:30 PM on working days other than Saturday and Sunday.

- Selection schedule: The notice gives a document-verification window but does not publish a separate written-test or interview date in this notice.
- Verification after selection: Police verification and a fitness certificate from the competent government medical authority form part of the stated service requirements.
- Ending the contract: The terms allow either side to end the engagement with three months’ notice or the corresponding three months’ emoluments; unsatisfactory performance can lead to earlier termination under the notice.
- No permanent claim: Contract service does not create a right to permanent absorption or appointment in Port Management Board service.

The job is operational rather than desk-based. The Pilot Officer may be assigned across A&N ports and is expected to support safe vessel movements such as entry, departure, berthing, unberthing and shifting. The role also involves coordinating the use of pilot craft, tugs and mooring support in line with port instructions and the daily movement plan.
