ISRO LPSC Recruitment 2026 – 19 Technical Assistant, Technician, Draughtsman & Fireman Posts

Technical Assistant (Mechanical) has 3 vacancies at Valiamala and 3 at Bengaluru. Technical Assistant (Chemical) has 1 vacancy at Valiamala. Electronic Mechanic has 1 vacancy at Bengaluru; Fitter has 5 at Valiamala and 4 at Bengaluru; Draughtsman (Mechanical) and Fireman 'A' each have 1 vacancy at Valiamala. The notification also specifies PWBD, Ex-Servicemen and category reservations against certain vacancies, so candidates should verify the reservation note for their chosen post before applying.

Selection has two stages: Written Test followed by a Skill Test. The written test is 90 minutes long and contains 80 multiple-choice questions carrying one mark each. Every wrong answer attracts a deduction of 0.33 mark. Candidates are shortlisted for the Skill Test in a 1:5 ratio, with a minimum of 10 candidates. The Skill Test is qualifying in nature on a “go-no-go” basis, and its marks are not added to the final merit.

Fireman 'A' follows a separate process: Written Test → Physical Efficiency Test (PET) → Detailed Medical Examination (DME). Applicants must also submit the prescribed Preliminary Medical Examination (PME) certificate with the application.

The notified syllabus covers basic chemistry relating to flammable liquids and gases; LPG properties; pressure, volume and temperature; areas of triangle, rectangle and parallelogram; volumes of cylinder, cone, sphere and cuboid; properties of CO₂, O₂, H₂ and inert gases; basic electricity and its hazards; properties of water; and General Knowledge.

Initial posting will be at the LPSC unit mentioned against the selected post, at Valiamala near Thiruvananthapuram or Bengaluru. However, an employee may later be posted to any ISRO / Department of Space Unit or Centre anywhere in India whenever required.

The uploaded photograph should clearly identify the applicant, use a white or other light-coloured background, and show the eyes clearly without dark glasses. The image must be in JPG/JPEG format, up to 40 KB, with both height and width between 95 and 100 pixels. The filename including extension must be no more than 25 characters and contain only alphabets and numbers.

Diploma holders in Mechanical or Chemical Engineering should focus on Technical Assistant posts. ITI/NTC/NAC candidates in Electronic Mechanic, Fitter or Draughtsman (Mechanical) trades can check the corresponding Level-3 vacancies. Candidates with only SSLC/SSC can consider Fireman 'A', but that post has additional medical, physical-fitness and PET requirements. Because each post has a different qualification and selection route, choosing the correct post number before registration is important.

If you hold a first-class 3-year Diploma in Mechanical or Chemical Engineering, start with the relevant Technical Assistant post. ITI/NTC/NAC holders should match their exact trade with Electronic Mechanic, Fitter or Draughtsman (Mechanical). Fireman 'A' is different from the technical trades: an SSLC/SSC qualification may satisfy the academic requirement, but the candidate must also meet the notified medical and physical-efficiency conditions. Do not choose a post merely because its age limit suits you; the exact qualification/trade requirement is equally important.

For Post Nos. 813–817, the Skill Test is qualifying rather than merit-scoring. This makes the Written Test especially important because candidates who clear the Skill Test are finally ranked using their Written Test marks. Accuracy also matters because each incorrect answer costs 0.33 mark. For Fireman 'A', the written score remains important for merit, but physical and medical fitness are additional qualifying hurdles. A sensible preparation plan should therefore combine written-test accuracy with post-specific skill or physical preparation instead of treating every LPSC vacancy in the same way.

The amount paid while submitting the form is not necessarily the amount finally retained as the application fee. For example, a candidate covered by the ₹750 initial-payment group who is not in a fee-exempt category and appears in the Written Test is eligible for refund of the balance after ₹250 is retained, subject to the notification's conditions. For the ₹500 initial-payment group, the corresponding retained fee for a non-exempt candidate is ₹100. Fee-exempt categories can receive the full applicable amount back after appearing in the Written Test. Candidates who do not attend the Written Test should not expect the same refund benefit.
